Quick 15-minute pasta

When I don't feel like taking a long time cooking a meal I usually turn to pasta. It's such a versatile ingredient! It can be cooked in 5-7 minutes and while it cooks you have just the enough time to come up with a mix of vegetables and/or protein to go with it.

We're going away to Portugal to visit our family and friends. We're leaving this week and because we're going to be away for almost 3 weeks it's "cleaning fridge" time! I always try to start looking at the fridge around a week and a half before we leave so I can make the most of the last ingredients and produce without having to waste anything.

I had a package of spicy sausages and I decided to go with that for the pasta. Threw in some steamed broccoli and some olives and just got a perfect dinner under 15 minutes.
Ingredients:
1/2 package of pasta (I decided to try these wheel shaped pasta a go!)
1/2 package of frozen broccoli
6 spicy sausages (slice them in thick chunks)
1/2 can pitted black olives
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tsp garlic powder
2 tsp dried parsley

Preparation:

  1. Cook the pasta in boiling water until it's cooked to your own taste. I like it al dente because I love when the pasta still has a bit of a bite to it!
  2. While the pasta is cooking sautée the sausages on a non-stick pan with a drizzle of olive oil. Cooked them until they get a beautiful done color and crusty surface.
  3. Add the steamed broccoli and the black olives and stir it up a bit so that everything gets the flavor of the sausages. Season with the garlic powder. Turn the heat to low.
  4. When the pasta is ready just through it on the pan and mix well. Add the parsley and also the butter, in small pieces throughout the pasta, so it gets distributes evenly on the pan. Leave it on slow heat for around 10 minutes giving it a whirl once in a while. This will give you some pasta bits with a golden color from the butter and loaded with flavor!

There you have it, quick and super tasty pasta in 15 minutes! I didn't add salt or pepper because the sausages were really well seasoned and it would be too much. Just make sure to check the seasoning of your sausages to check if you'll need to add some salt and pepper too.

Now, I'll just get a bowl of pasta for myself and dig in!

I'll try not to get seconds but I'm not making any promises! It really turned out delicious!
